US Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney says Palestinians are not ‘interested in peace,’ and that peace with the Palestinians is “unthinkable.”
“Palestinians have no interest whatsoever in establishing peace, and that the pathway to peace is almost unthinkable to accomplish,” Romney said in video footage released Tuesday by a major US-based Mother Jones.
In another video on the same website, he claimed that 'the even the US could be targeted by Iran's missiles,' and insulted the people of Iran by referring to them as ‘crazed fanatics.’
Many elections observers have contended that political pressure groups and lobbyists in the United States have manipulated the US election process in so many ways that it can no more be described as democratic.
They believe such “insane” comments as the ones made by Romney are only made to warm up the upcoming theatrical US election.
In the video, the conservative Republican seems to copy his script from anti-Palestinian and anti-Iran publicity campaigns, promoted by pro-Israeli lobby groups in the US, insisting that an independent Palestinian state would mean giving the Palestinians control over territory that ‘would bring the expansion of Iranian influence and into the West Bank and Gaza, threatening the regime.’
In another part of his address, the American presidential contender conceded that his campaign advisers had been involved in running election campaigns in other countries across the globe and particularly helped Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu win his election.
“I have a very good team of extraordinarily experienced highly successful consultants… who have done races around the world. These guys in the US do races all over the world, in Armenia, in Africa, in Israel. I mean, they work[ed] for Bibi Netanyahu in his race. So they do these [election] races and they see which ads work, and which processes work best,” Romney said.
